Hi,
I am wondering about the continuous wave mode available on the evaluation module with the LM96570 and LM96551 chips:
1) the National Semiconductor software that comes with the kit (NSC Ultrasound Chipset; v 1.2.3.0) does not have any checkbox/option for CW mode, yet it is mentioned (and pictured) in the software documentation (TX_SDK_Software_Guide_1-0-2-1) that is is available as an option to the user (See image below).
2) I understand that due to the high power dissipation in the LM96551 that the chip may be damaged when run in CW mode with High Current mode enabled. is this even an option, or does the chip actually prevent both CW mode and High Current mode from being active at the same time. If not, is there any information as to a minimum duration the LM96551 can output with VPP=-VNN=50V in High Current Mode across 50 Ohm load without being damaged? Or alternatively is it possible to increase the duration of the pulse longer than 32 cycles?
