Forum Post: Inquiry regarding noise free bits on AFE4400 and AFE4490

Hello, all

Now we have some inquiries regarding noise free bits on AFE4400 and AFE4490 from our customer.

Please refer to the items below, and feedback us with your comment.

Q1) On both datasheet, the term "effective number of bits (ENOB)" is not defined, but only "noise free bits(NFB)" is defined. Please let us clarify whether you have any particular reason why ENOB is not defined. 

Q2) We assume that the formula for NFB is "NFB = log (FSR / Vp-p)", however on page 10 of AFE4490, this is defined as "NFB = log (IPD / 6.6*INOISE)". Please let us clarify how this formula is related with our understanding.
