Forum Post: TSL250R Light sensor

I don't know if this is the right place for this question. I need to convert light to a representative voltage. Wikipedia states that full sunlight is 1120 watts per meter squared which would be 0.112 watts per square centimeter. I need to measure this level all the way down to zero. I am looking at an old book which mentions the TSL250R. Is there a newer version that would measure what I want? It has a photodiode and transimpedance amplifier in it. I would probably have to mount the device vertically and provide a diffusing surface above it to measure the cosine of the light impacting the device. This is what a pyranometer would do. So essentially I would be designing my own pyranometer to avoid the cost of buying one and to have something to sell. This is for a product for the agriculture community. Also, is the photo device repeatable in readings from one device to the next? I have the TI blurb on the photodiode/transimpedance amplifier that Bruce Trump put out. Thank you. Alvin...
