Forum Post: RE: Using LM98725

Hi Martin, I would connect the Sp to LM98725 SH4 by default (using a resistor), but include a provision to allow it to be connected to PHIB1 if needed (using a second resistor). Only one of these two configuration resistors will be installed, depending on which timing output pin is actually used. I would connect Cp to PHIA1. SH1, SH2 and SH3 should be connected to drivers controlling the R, G and B sensor inputs. The LM98725 will be configured in Mode 3, CISb mode with a 3 color sequence (Figure 46) when doing color scanning, and a 1 color sequence (Figure 48) when doing monochrome scanning. If you are using CMOS data output, then SH2/CLKOUT must be reserved for the DATA Clock. In that case you could use SH1, SH3 and SH4 for RGB lamp control and SH5 for the Sp. To address the issue of the linear voltage range ("Analog output voltage at dark paper") with this sensor, in order to increase dark level voltage an amplifier / level shift circuit could be used to shift the DC level up. Regards, Hooman
