Forum Post: TX-SDK-V2 setback while configuring

Hello,

I have a TX-SDK-V2 with LM96550, LM96570 and LM96530. The power-up sequence given in the TI manual was followed:

1. VSUB = -50V
2. +3.3V
3. +1.8V
4. +/- 5V
5. +/- 10V
6. +/-50V (J_SUB in 1-2 position)
7. +/-40V

The unit was connected to a computer and the 'NSC Ultrasound Tools' application was run.

The desired configuration was chosen for Beamformer, TR Switch and Pulser (Enable HV). The s/w however started throwing errors after a couple of re-configurations.

The board was examined and LM96550 appeared have a couple of bumps with the indication that its been damaged.

My questions are:

1. What could've possibly caused this?

2. As I do not want the other parts to burn out, I do not want to power it up again. How can we get the part replaced?

3. Would it be possible for us to replace LM96550 with LM96551 without having any impact on the rest of the board? This eliminates the need for another power supply!

4. Are there any specific designs which I can use to build +/-50V, +/-40V and +/-10V power supply for this EVM?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
