Vincent, Like many other Delta-sigma type ADCs, the ADS1226 trades speed for noise performance. Both modes will report data with 24-bits. High-Speed mode runs nominally at 100SPS, but has an RMS noise of about 2ppm of full scale. High-Resolution mode runs at about 16SPS, but has an RMS noise of about 0.5ppm of full scale. The noise performance is shown in Figures 11 to 14 in the datasheet. I would note that the ADS1226 is a bit of an older device. A newer, similar device would be the ADS1220 , which has better performance with a extra features. Joseph Wu
